Remedial & Therapeutic Massage
Lincoln, Grantham and Cliff Villages
Helping to relieve muscular pain, restore movement and
support your body's natural recovery.
Muscular pain and stiffness rarely develop without a reason.
Sometimes they're the result of an injury. Sometimes they're caused by repetitive movements, poor posture or long hours at a desk. Often, physical tension builds gradually as our bodies respond to the demands of everyday life.
Whether you're living with persistent neck and shoulder pain, recurring back problems, restricted movement or muscles that simply never seem to relax, remedial massage aims to identify the source of the problem rather than simply treating where it hurts.
Every treatment is tailored to your individual needs, helping reduce pain, improve mobility and support long-term recovery.
Looking Beyond the Pain
Pain is not always caused by the place where you feel it.
A tight shoulder may be related to posture, breathing patterns or tension elsewhere in the body.
Lower back pain may have developed gradually as the body compensates for weakness or restriction in another area.
Rather than following a routine massage sequence, I assess how your body is moving and identify the areas that are most likely contributing to your symptoms.
This allows treatment to be individual, focused and appropriate for you.
Integrating Therapies
Because I also practise Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and Craniosacral Therapy, I'm able to consider whether massage alone is the most appropriate treatment or whether combining therapies may provide greater benefit.
Some people benefit from massage to reduce muscular tension before acupuncture. Others find that gentle craniosacral therapy helps calm the nervous system alongside remedial work.
Every treatment plan is individual, and we'll decide together what is most appropriate for your needs.
What happens during your first appointment?
Your first appointment lasts around 90 minutes, allowing time for us to talk before treatment begins.
We'll discuss your current symptoms, your medical history, your daily activities and anything else that may be contributing to how you're feeling.
This helps me understand not only where you're experiencing discomfort, but why your body may be holding tension in the first place.
Treatment takes place on a comfortable massage couch using professional oils. Towels are used throughout the session so that only the area being treated is uncovered, ensuring your comfort and privacy at all times.
Conditions I Commonly Support
Stress & Overwhelm
Stress often shows itself physically. Muscles that never seem to switch off is a common way the body responds to prolonged stress. Remedial massage can help release this physical tension, allowing both the body and mind an opportunity to settle.
Tight neck and shoulders
Aching jaws
Tension headaches

Poor sleep associated with stress
Physical fatigue
Feeling unable to relax

Recovery & Rehabilitation

Whether you're recovering from injury, adapting after a physically demanding period or simply recognising that your body needs time to recover, remedial massage can support the healing process.
Treatment is always tailored to your stage of recovery and your individual needs.

Sports and work-related injuries
Tension headaches
Repetitive strain
Sometimes people tell me...
"My shoulders always feel tight."
"I've just learned to live with my back."
"I feel as though my body is constantly braced."
"Everything aches by the end of the day."
"I stretch all the time, but nothing seems to change."
"I know I'm tense, but I can't seem to switch off."
It's not always about the place that hurts
One of the things I've learnt over many years in practice is that the source of pain isn't always where it's felt.
For example, shoulder pain may relate to posture, the way you move, or tension held elsewhere in the body. Lower back pain may develop because other muscles are working harder than they should.
Rather than simply treating the painful area, I look at how your body is working as a whole to identify the most appropriate treatment.
Questions
Will massage hurt?
Massage should never feel unbearable.
Some areas of long-standing tension may feel tender while they're being worked, but treatment is always adapted to your comfort. I'll check in with you throughout the session and adjust the pressure whenever needed.
The aim is to help your body release tension - not create more.
How will I feel afterwards?
Many people leave feeling lighter, calmer and more relaxed.
Some notice immediate improvement in movement, while others find changes develop over the following day or two as the body settles.
Occasionally you may feel pleasantly tired afterwards, particularly if your body has been carrying a great deal of tension
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your goals and how long you've been experiencing your symptoms.
Some people book occasional massage appointments simply to maintain wellbeing, while others benefit from a short course of treatments to address more persistent tension or discomfort.
We'll review your progress together and decide what feels appropriate for you.
Working Together
I believe massage is about far more than relieving sore muscles.
It's about creating space for your body to unwind, your breathing to deepen and your nervous system to settle.
Whether you're seeking relief from persistent muscular tension, recovering from a busy period or simply recognising that it's time to look after yourself, treatment is always centred around your individual needs.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach—every session is adapted to how you're feeling on that particular day.
If you're wondering whether Massage Therapy might be right for you, I'd be very happy to have a conversation.
Together we can discuss what's been troubling you, answer any questions you may have and decide whether massage is the most appropriate treatment for your needs.
Sometimes a single session is enough to help you feel more comfortable. Sometimes it becomes part of a longer journey towards better health and wellbeing.
Either way, you're very welcome.
